The Reiser Case - Order of events
To set up the timeline I used these sources:

July 2006: Nina Reiser obtains Russian citizenship for her son. Her daughter owns the Russian citizenship for two years.
September 3 2006: Nina Reiser drops off their two children at Hans Reiser's home. This is the last time she was seen. At 2:02pm a call had been placed to Hans Reiser's home. This is about two minutes after she left the house.
September 5 2006: Neighbours spot Nina Reiser's minivan at Thornhill where it is later found
September 8 2006: Hans Reiser buys two books: "Masterpieces of Murder" and "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets". One reader of www.sfgate.com suggests that these are "how-to manuals on committing murder and getting away with it." I do not think that such manuals actually do or can exist and are publically available. I mean what do you imply? Hans Reiser bought these books three days after he killed his wife to find out how to get rid of the body? This really sounds like utterly nonsense.
September 9 2006: Nina Reiser's minivan was found 3 miles from Hans Reiser's home on Fernwood Drive.
September 12 2006: Reiser was given a traffic ticket, the passenger seat is still there
September ?? 2006: Police starts observing Hans Reiser. Reiser apparently notices them.
September 19 2006: police follows Hans Reiser to his car, a Honda CRX, and found the front passenger seat missing and also trace amounts of Nina's blood.
October 10 2006: Hans Reiser is arrested
December 23 2006: the two children go to St. Petersburg, Russia to stay with their grandmother.

The book "Masterpieces of Murder" contains a chapter on The Wallace Case where the author, Jonathan Goodman, convinces the reader that Wallace was innocent.

Trouble with external USB 2.0 harddisk and solution
Have you ever seen this message when plugging in an external USB harddisk:

device not accepting address 36, error -71

and whatever you tried, the disk is not recognized. You have read all the hints and tips, of course you have looked at Linux USB FAQ. And you find that this seems to be a rather common problem, even jwz was hit by this once. Note that this was before he gave up on linux and bought an imac. Anyways, you have modified /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/use_both_schemes and /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/old_scheme_first, then you unload and reload the ehci-hcd module, and also unload uhci-hcd, in any combination possible. No chance, it always replies with the above message, very frustrating... At one point I packed the thing up, and wanted to bring it back, but I gave it a last chance, and it suddenly worked, but after the reboot was lost again, this is like AAAAAAAAA!. Finally you read again that usb 2.0 is very sensitive to signal quality and I found out that if I do not put the disk under my Linksys WLan AP this damn My Book works, honestly, that was it, geese...
